World Record Rower Arrives In Hawaii After 43 Days

After 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes alone at sea, Kelsey Pfendler arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 3, 2026, completing a historic solo row across the Pacific Ocean.

Pfendler departed from Monterey, California, and docked at the Hawaii Yacht Club at approximately 9:00 p.m. Hawaii time (12:00 a.m. Pacific Time), where thousands of supporters gathered to celebrate her accomplishment.

With the crossing complete, Pfendler set the world record for the fastest solo row across the mid-Pacific Ocean. She also became the youngest woman to complete a solo row across the mid-Pacific.

Crowds lined the harbor cheering as she made her final approach to the dock. At times, tensions flared between yacht club staff and supporters after attendees were told Pfendler would not be greeting the crowd and were encouraged to leave.

Despite the confusion, Pfendler later addressed those waiting outside, thanking everyone for their support throughout her remarkable journey and record-breaking achievement.

Her crossing marks one of the most significant solo ocean rowing accomplishments in recent years.
