Pedestrian Killed On Beltway 8 In Houston

A pedestrian was killed in a collision early Wednesday morning along the South Sam Houston Tollway in Houston, according to preliminary radio traffic.

The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on September 9, 2026, along the South Beltway just east of Kirby Drive.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene of the reported vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. A medical examiner also appeared to be at the scene.

Video from the scene showed what appeared to be a walker or wheelchair near the investigation area, although it was unclear whether it was connected to the victim or the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Westbound frontage road lanes were shut down between State Highway 288 and Kirby Drive while authorities investigated.

Additional details regarding the victim, driver involved or circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately available.
