Jurupa Valley Fire Injures Three, Prompts Evacuations
At approximately 4:00 p.m. on April 15, 2026, a brush fire broke out near Yearling Drive and Baldwin Avenue in Jurupa Valley, quickly spreading through vegetation and threatening nearby homes.
Fire crews from multiple agencies responded and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate in the immediate vicinity of residential areas. Air resources, including fixed-wing tankers and helicopters, began water and retardant drops shortly before 5:00 p.m., helping to slow the forward progress of the fire.
Forward progress of the fire was stopped at approximately 33.3 acres by 6:17 p.m., with crews continuing to establish containment lines. The fire ultimately burned roughly 35 acres.
Three people were injured during the incident. One person reportedly suffered a broken arm while evacuating, and two others were treated for smoke inhalation. All were transported to a local hospital.
Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for parts of the area, while nearby neighborhoods were placed under evacuation warnings. Road closures were also implemented as crews worked the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
