Abandoned Building Fire in Houston Linked to Possible Homeless Activity

LOCATION: 3230 Yoakum
AREA/CITY: Houston
DETAILS:
- HFD responded to reports of a building fire
- Arriving units located a two story structure with smoke and fire showing
- Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack on the fire, getting the bulk of the fire under control in about 15 minutes
- The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation, but considering the structure is abandoned and has no power, the cause is likely related to homelessness and possibly a warming fire.
- A homeless male was seen entering the structure while HFD was working to extinguish the fire and was removed by HPD.
