Coyote Caught Eating Jack-O’-Lantern On Big Bear Patio
A hungry coyote in Big Bear City found itself an unexpected Halloween treat early Wednesday morning, helping itself to a freshly carved jack-o’-lantern sitting on a home’s patio. 🎃🐺
On October 28, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a camera captured the curious coyote taking small bites directly out of the pumpkin’s carved face.
The pumpkin had been carved just days earlier, and its fresh scent may have attracted the unexpected visitor.
As the coyote enjoyed its late-night snack, something inside the home caught its attention.
The sound of a television appeared to confuse the animal, prompting an adorable head tilt before it returned to investigating its Halloween treat.
By the time the coyote finished, the once-festive jack-o’-lantern was left noticeably disfigured and beyond saving.
Coyotes are common throughout the San Bernardino Mountains, but catching one enjoying a Halloween decoration makes for an unusual wildlife encounter.
The pumpkin may not have survived the night, but at least someone enjoyed the Halloween festivities! 🎃
