Man Shot Near Lower Rib Cage Seeks Help At Houston Building
A 31-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday night after suffering a gunshot wound and running to a building in Houston to seek help.
On October 27, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Houston police responded to a reported shooting at 55 Waugh Drive.
According to investigators, a security guard observed the injured man running from the opposite side of the building before he entered and asked for help, saying he had been shot.
The security guard contacted police.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his side, toward his back near the lower rib cage. Houston Fire Department EMS personnel treated him at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The man told investigators he had been at a nearby park but did not see who shot him and did not know why he was targeted.
Investigators said the wound appeared consistent with a gunshot fired at close range.
Officers canvassed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the original shooting scene. Several parks were located in the direction described by the victim, making the exact location unclear.
HPD’s Major Assaults Division is investigating.
No suspect information was immediately available.
