A tow truck driver traveling south on the I-101 Freeway came across a disabled vehicle in the center divide near Rancho Road and stopped to assist around 2:34 AM.
Inside the vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Volt, the tow truck driver discovered an adult male unconscious.
Firefighter paramedics arriving on scene attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the man deceased on scene.
Several lanes were closed while officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident.
