LVMPD K9 Stabbed and Airlifted to Animal Hospital

  1. Firefighters and police rushed to a downtown Las Vegas fire Friday afternoon, reported at 1215 S. Las Vegas Boulevard, just south of Charleston Boulevard. The vicinity, nestled near the Arts District, comprises various accommodations like hotels, motels, apartments, and chapels. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed their response to a barricaded individual in the area, prompting multiple closures. Despite police efforts, the individual remained non-compliant, necessitating SWAT team intervention.LVMPD linked the barricade incident directly to the ongoing fire investigation. LVMPD advised steering clear of the area due to the active police presence.

    Shortly after 3 p.m., LVMPD disclosed via social media that a working K9 had sustained severe injuries during the response to the barricade. The injured K9 was swiftly transported by air to a local animal hospital.

    During a subsequent media briefing, police revealed that the barricaded individual had ignited a small fire within their apartment. Upon SWAT’s arrival, the suspect emerged armed with a knife. Law enforcement utilized various non-lethal methods to apprehend the suspect, including deploying K9 Enzo, who unfortunately suffered a stabbing. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a nearby medical facility.
