Houston: Shooting Leaves One Dead At Family Gathering

02.24.2019 | 11:00 PM | HOUSTON – Police are investigating after one person was shot dead at a family gathering, Sunday night.

Authorities responded to the reported shooting at a home in the 10400 block of Hamlet Vale Court around 11:00 PM.

Units arriving on scene discovered a teenage male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Firefighter paramedics treated the victim on scene before transporting him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Initial reports indicate a fight broke out during a family gathering and one person retrieved a gun. It was unclear if the person with the gun opened fire or if the gun was dropped and accidentally fired.

Detectives are on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
