Houston: Fire Rips Through Home

07.01.2019 | 12:01 AM | HOUSTON – A fire ripped through a single-story home, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Gregg around 12:01 AM.

Crews arriving on scene found a single-story home engulfed in heavy fire and began efforts to douse the blaze.

Within an hour crews had contained the fire to the home of origin, preventing the spread of flames to nearby homes.

The solo occupant of the home escaped the fire without injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but the resident reported hearing popping and an electrical smell shortly before the incident.
