Suspect Tries To Hide In House After Pursuit Crash

- A male suspect is in custody after a chase from Mesa ended in South Phoenix.
- Mesa Police notified AZ DPS around 11:30 PM that their air unit was tracking a Corvette that fled from officers.
- The Corvette was traveling Westbound on the Red Mountain 202 near the 101 at high speeds and eventually entered the Phoenix area.
- AZ DPS and Phoenix Police assisted Mesa PD as the vehicle fled recklessly at high speeds throughout the South Phoenix area with at least one tire deflated.
- The Phoenix Police air unit took over air operations for the Mesa Police air unit shortly before midnight.
- The suspect crashed his vehicle in an alleyway near 4000 West Grant Street and then jumped into a backyard, entering a residence from a second floor window.
- According to Mesa Police the residence was known to the suspect.
- Mesa Police and DPS quickly surrounded the house and began issuing commands.
- The male suspect eventually exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident.
- Mesa Police confirmed at least one handgun with an extended magazine was recovered from the suspects vehicle.
- Phoenix Fire crews responded to the scene to evaluate the suspect for minor injuries sustained during the alleyway crash.
