Union Pacific Train Derails, 12 cars and 3 Engines Off The Tracks | Colton

03.21.2022 | 7:10 AM | COLTON – On Monday morning, March 21, 2022 around 7:10am, Colton Fire Department responded for a train derailment with 12 cars plus 3 locomotives that were off the tracks. The train was a Union Pacific train that was carrying lumber At this time the cause of the derailment is not clear. One of the cars carrying lumber caught fire. During the derailment an estimated 300 gallons of diesel spilled. Union Pacific Hazmat team is working on cleaning it up. No one was injured in the accident. It is being reported that a contract worker who was helping cleanup the accident was injured but their status is not known at this time.
