Shots Fired Call Turns Into Barricaded Subject With Multiple Kids | Colton

10.03.2022 | 11:30 PM | COLTON – On October 3rd at approximately 11:26 PM, Colton PD Officers were dispatched to 1316 South Meadow Lane in reference to a possible domestic violence call. As Colton PD Officers arrived on scene, they could hear gunshots coming from inside an apartment. CPD Officers located the apartment where the shooting had occurred and began evacuating nearby residents. CPD Officers made contact with the suspect who initially refused to comply with officers’ commands, and remained inside his apartment. Through out negotiations, the suspect ultimately surrendered to officers and was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed the suspect fired several rounds from a handgun while his seven juvenile children were inside the apartment. No one was struck by the suspect’s gunfire. The suspect was taken into a nearby hospital for a mental healthy evaluation. The Colton Police Department detective bureau is currently investigating the incident.
