- Several Park La Jolla apartment complex apartments are heavily damaged by fire, smoke, or water.
- Firefighters arrived at a fully involved apartment on the second floor that spread into an adjacent apartment.
- 911 Dispatchers received reports of an explosion before the fire.
- The windows were blown out.
- The resident told us he was in the shower and had burning candles in a room.
- He believes that a candle fell over and started the fire.
- He got out with only a towel and started to try to evacuate his neighbors.
- No reported injuries, but five adults and three children are being displaced.
- The American Red Cross has been requested to come and aid the displaced people.
- MAST is on its way to investigate the cause of the fire.
