Brea Police Kill Possible DUI Driver

- BREA (CNS) – A male who appeared to be driving under the influence was shot to death by Brea police officers, authorities said Friday.The officers were notified at 4:42 p.m. Thursday about a possible DUI driver in the area of Lambert Road and the Orange (57) Freeway, according to a Brea Police Department statement.Responding officers found a vehicle matching the description of the possible DUI vehicle up against a retaining wall in westbound lanes of Lambert Road east of the freeway, police said.
“Officers made contact with the driver,” the statement noted. “A short time later, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.”
The Orange County District Attorney’s office responded to the scene to begin an investigation, per department policy, police said.
