Yucca Valley: Man Arrested After Shooting At Deputy
01.09.2018 | 10:23 PM | YUCCA VALLEY – A man was arrested for attempted murder of a deputy sheriff, Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to a woman reporting she was barricaded with her children inside a bathroom of a home with an armed suicidal subject inside in the 5800 block of Bonanza Drive around 10:23 PM.
The first arriving deputy quickly helped the woman and children escape the home before confronting the subject in the home’s backyard.
The armed subject, later identified as Rafael Zamora, opened fire towards the deputy when he was confronted prompting a brief standoff.
Additional deputies arrived on scene and convinced Zamora to surrender shortly after.
He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation before being booked on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer.
