Wrong-Way Pursuit of Robbery Suspects | Chula Vista

07.30.2021 | 11:05 PM | CHULA VISTA – A Hispanic male and female couple were seen shoplifting at the Walmart by the stores’ Loss Prevention.

The suspects had shoplifted approx $200 worth of merchandise.

The security attempted to detain them and was assaulted by the male turning the crime from a misdemeanor theft into a felony armed robbery.

The 2 suspects got into a white Mercedes, which after the Police ran the plates, the vehicle turned out to have been stolen.

A CVPD spotted the car going north on SR-125 and was being pursued. They reached speeds of over 100 mph while going the wrong way.

The suspects got off the freeway and re-entered going the wrong way. north in the southbound lanes and made their way west on the eastbound 54. The Police were following from the opposite side of the freeway and had the ABLE helicopter overhead.

Law Enforcement stopped all eastbound traffic on SR-54 just west of the I-805 and the suspects just drove right through everyone.

The suspects then made a U-turn at Highland Ave and went east on the 54 to the southbound I-805 with officers still pursuing them.

The suspects made their way into Mexico and escaped.
