Wrong Way Driver Hits 5 Vehicles on The Freeway

On April 28, 2024, at approximately 2:16 AM, CHP Riverside
units responded to a call of a Dodge Ram traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-215,
south of Eucalyptus Avenue. The Dodge continued wrong way on the westbound SR-60 to
southbound I-215 transition road where the Dodge collided with multiple vehicles. The Dodge
entered westbound SR-60 where it was involved in a three-vehicle head on crash. The driver of
the Dodge fled the scene on foot and was ultimately located off the freeway where he was
arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of three separate crashes
occurred ranging from complaint of pain to major (non-life threatening) injuries.
Officer Rabago is the investigating Officer. This is an active investigation and any witnesses
who may have observed the incident are encouraged to call the California Highway Patrol
