- Per Sheriff Ed Gonzalez via X “Early this morning,
deputies responded to a call for service at 13849 Eastex Freeway, in reference to a wrong-way driver. Upon arrival, units advised vehicles crashed head-on, resulting in a fatality. Two vehicles involves, single driver in each vehicle. One person is deceased and the other has been transported to a hospital, in unknown condition. Intoxication investigation is underway for wrong-way driver. 59-Eastex Freeway northbound/outbound lanes are closed and traffic is being diverted off ramp towards East Mount Houston Road. Media partners staging area at Chevron gas station adjacent to the scene.”
