Wrong Way Driver Crash Investigation | Phoenix

01.04.2022 | 04:00 AM | PHOENIX – Around 1:30 AM Friday morning Arizona Department of Public Safety received multiple calls from motorists, including an on duty Phoenix Police officer, reporting a vehicle traveling Southbound in the Northbound lanes of State Route 51. The wrong way vehicle, driven by a woman in her 40s, collided head on with another vehicle North of Thomas Road. Troopers arrived to find a serious 2 vehicle collision blocking multiple lanes. Fire crews arrived on scene and transported both the female driver of the wrong way vehicle and the male driver of the secondary vehicle with extensive injuries. Northbound SR-51 is expected to remain closed between Thomas Road and Indian School Road until 4:00 AM as DPS investigates the incident.
