Wrong-Way Driver Causes Crash on The 101 Freeway | Encino

08.27.2021 | 2:40 AM | ENCINO – CHP West Valley Division started receiving calls of a wrong way driver heading east on the west bound lanes.

Before officers could locate the driver the driver struck a semi truck knocking the wheels off the trailer.

When officers arrived the found the driver of the wrong way vehicle out of the vehicle, and also found a motorcyclist down in the fast lane.

At this time it is unclear if the motorcyclist was struck by the wrong way driver or crashed on the east bound side and landed on the west side.

The rider was transported by LAFD Paramedics to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle was placed in custody for possible DUI and then transported to a local hospital.

At this time it is unclear how long the freeway in both directions will be closed.
