Woodland Hills: Qurantined Officer Opens Fire At Suspect Breaking Into His Car
03.30.2020 | 1:28 AM | LOS ANGELES – An officer being self-quarantined after testing positive for COVID-19 opened fire on a suspect breaking into his car, early Monday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of officer-involved shooting outside of a home in the 22500 block of Cass Avenue in the Woodland Hills area around 1:28 AM.
Units arriving on scene learned that an off-duty officer who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 was self-quarantining when he saw a suspect attempting to break into his personal vehicle.
The officer confronted the suspect and an officer-involved occurred when the suspect brandished a weapon.
Several shots were reportedly fired but none hit the suspect who fled the scene in a white car.
No physical contact between the off-duty officer and the suspect occurred and the officer was not injured.
Investigators on scene were provided personal protective equipment as they worked to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
