Woodland Hills: Attack Leaves Officer Injured, Suspect In Custody
11.30.2019 | 2:15 AM | WOODLAND HILLS – A suspect was in custody after attacking an officer and attempting to grab his firearm, early Saturday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle stopped on Topanga Canyon Road near Woodland Crest Drive around 2:15 AM.
A records check of the license plate associated with the vehicle indicate it was stolen and a citizen reported seeing a subject leaving the vehicle on foot.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and located an individual matching the description of the suspect.
An officer attempted to stop the man and a fight broke out.
The officer radioed for immediate help and additional units responding assisted apprehending the suspect.
Firefighter paramedics treated both the officer and suspect on scene before transporting them with minor injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the attack were unclear but initial reports indicate the suspect attempted to retrieve the officers firearm.
