Woman’s Leg Nearly Severed After Crash In San Bernardino

DETAILS:
- A woman was seriously injured in a multi vehicle traffic collision and is on her way to emergency surgery after her leg was almost severed in the crash.
- At around 9:55 PM first responders were dispatched to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the south bound side of highway 215 between 5th stand 2nd st exit.
- Per CHP cad, one of the victims of the vehicle, a female, upon impact was thrown into the back seat of the vehicle and was trapped.
- Upon arriving on scene first responders found a by stander had stopped to help render aid to the female prior to their arrival.
- first responders found the female was trapped and had sustained significant damage to one of her legs.
- The injurty per the by stander that helped her, said she sustained a significant open fracture and that bone was showing and was bleeding heavily.
- Further more the leg appeared to twisted completely around and was hanging by skin.
- The victim was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ground ambulance immediately.
- The second victim, an elderly male, appeared to be alert and oriented with non life threatening injuries and was also transported.
- There were several other vehicles involved in the tc, however they all appeared to have mild damage.
- The cause of the incident is unknown.
