Woman Pregnant With Twins Killed In Violent Collision
A woman who was five months pregnant with twins was killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash in Apple Valley on the evening of June 27, 2026.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies, Apple Valley Fire personnel, and AMR responded at approximately 8:21 p.m. to the intersection of Wichita Road and Zuni Road following reports of a serious collision.
Investigators determined that a 25-year-old Apple Valley man driving a 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Wichita Road when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign and broadsided a 2021 Nissan Altima traveling westbound on Zuni Road.
The impact left the Camry engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside. Firefighters extricated him from the burning vehicle before he was transported to a local hospital.
Two passengers from the Nissan were transported to a trauma center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, 33-year-old Lorena Lopez, suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Family members later shared that Lopez was five months pregnant with twins—a baby boy and a baby girl—at the time of the crash.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to conduct the investigation. Deputies remained on scene for several hours collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information is encouraged to contact the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station.
