Woman Pepperballed After Stealing Security Car In San Mateo, CA

 

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 3-28-25 5:00 PM
LOCATION: 28th Avenue and South El Camino
AREA/CITY: San Mateo
DETAILS:

  1. Friday afternoon, Burlingame police responded to a report from a security guard that someone stole their vehicle.
  2. Just before 5:00 PM, San Mateo PD officers located the stolen allied universal vehicle near the police station.
  3. Officers deployed a GPS tracking device onto the vehicle, and attempted to stop it.
  4. The driver fled officers recklessly, blowing a red light at which point units disengaged in the pursuit.
  5. An unmarked police vehicle followed the suspect into the Burger King parking lot, at which point additional officers blocked her in.
  6. The suspect refused to exit and a standoff ensued.
  7. Officers utilized a less lethal 40MM projectile to break the windows.
  8. Officers then deployed several rounds of pepper balls into the vehicle, prompting the suspect to exit.
  9. The suspect was treated by medics.
  10. The incident was resolved around 5:30 PM
