Woman Loses Leg to Train

DETAILS:
- 911 Dispatchers received a call about five people who were run over by a train.
- When 1st Responders arrived, they found a woman under the train.
- The woman had a leg severed, and she was transported to a local hospital.
- It appears that a BNS&F train was sitting on the tracks and blocking access to 5th Ave, across the street from the San Diego Convention Center.
- A group of people got impatient of waiting, and started to move over and under the train.
- The train started to move, and two people fell.
- A man suffered a head injury, but he left the scene before the 1st Responders arrived.
- The 1st Responders found the woman on the tracks.
- The train’s engineer did not know about the incident and left, heading north.
- The train finally was stopped in the northern area of the City of San Diego.
- SDPD had Harbor Dr shut down in both directions to investigate.
- The status of the woman is not known at this time.
