Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on East Freeway in Houston

At approximately 11:38 p.m. on April 5th, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a life-in-danger call on the 14700 block of the East Freeway in Houston.

According to investigators, a black Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Victoria Gonzalez, was either stopped or traveling at a slow speed in the eastbound lanes when it was struck from behind by a silver Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Silverado failed to control speed and fled the scene on foot after the collision, leaving the vehicle approximately a quarter mile from the crash site.

Gonzalez was found unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medics.

The suspect driver has not been located, and the incident remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
