Woman Killed Crossing Highway 249 In Houston

At approximately 10:32 p.m. on June 11, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported auto-versus-pedestrian collision at Highway 249 and Old Bammel North Houston Road.

According to investigators, a Cadillac sedan traveling southbound on Highway 249 struck a female pedestrian who was running eastbound across the roadway after the vehicle had passed through the intersection.

Authorities said the driver initially left the scene but later returned and cooperated with investigators.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators determined the woman was not crossing within a marked crosswalk. Authorities said the traffic signals were functioning properly and the driver had a green light at the time of the collision.

Deputies reported no signs of intoxication on the part of the Cadillac driver, and no charges were filed.

While investigators were processing the fatal crash scene, a second incident occurred when a Harris County deputy was struck by a Nissan sedan making a right turn at the intersection.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the Nissan was arrested on a controlled substance possession charge. Investigators stated the driver was not intoxicated at the time of the collision.

The fatal pedestrian crash and the deputy-involved collision remain under investigation.
