Woman Killed After Stalled Car Struck On 91 Freeway In Corona

A woman was killed early Wednesday morning after her disabled vehicle was struck from behind and caught fire on the 91 Freeway in Corona.

The fatal collision occurred around 1:10 a.m. on September 23, 2026, on the westbound 91 Freeway east of Green River Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Nissan Altima became disabled and was blocking the No. 2 lane. The female driver exited the Nissan and was standing directly in front of it when an approaching Hyundai Accent collided with the rear of her vehicle.

The impact pushed the Nissan forward, striking the woman and sending her through the front windshield into the front passenger seat.

The Nissan subsequently caught fire, and the woman was unable to escape before the vehicle became fully engulfed. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.

The Hyundai driver suffered minor injuries.

This marks the second reported fatal collision involving a stalled vehicle in Corona this week.
