Woman Killed After Being Struck While Lying In Long Beach Roadway

A woman was killed Monday night after being struck by an SUV while lying in the roadway in Long Beach, according to police.

The fatal collision was reported around 10:50 p.m. on September 21, 2026, near Pacific Avenue and Sixth Street.

Long Beach police officers arrived to find a woman lying in the roadway with injuries to her upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 25-year-old Long Beach woman was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Pacific Avenue when she struck the pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway for unknown reasons.

Police said the driver immediately stopped, called 911 and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities determined that neither speed nor impaired driving were factors in the collision.

Pacific Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets was closed while officers investigated the fatal crash.

The victim’s identity had not been released.
