Woman Fatally Shot While Walking to Friend’s Home in Houston

At approximately 11:45pm on March 6th, 2026, Houston Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting near the 500 block of West 20th Street at Lawrence in Houston.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid at the scene before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

Authorities later confirmed the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Preliminary information indicated the victim had parked her vehicle and was walking toward a friend’s residence prior to the shooting. Investigators believed the incident may have occurred during a robbery while she was walking along the street.

The investigation remained ongoing.
