Woman Crashes After High-Speed CHP Pursuit
A high-speed California Highway Patrol pursuit ended in a dramatic crash early Sunday morning in Hawthorne.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. on July 13, 2026, CHP officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The pursuit continued from the westbound 105 Freeway to the southbound 110 Freeway before reaching the northbound 405 Freeway.
According to authorities, the chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, with the suspect reportedly driving as fast as 130 mph at times.
The female driver exited at the Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp, where she lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a guardrail, and came to rest on the northbound 405 on-ramp below.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics evaluated the driver while she was seated in the back of a CHP patrol vehicle before transporting her by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The crash caused extensive damage to approximately 125 feet of guardrail, forcing the closure of both the Rosecrans off-ramp and the northbound 405 on-ramp while crews assessed the damage and made repairs.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the pursuit and crash.
