Wild Pursuit Causes Multiple Crashes

LOCATION: 83rd Street & Figueroa Street (First crash & Vehicle Swap location), Imperial Hwy & Century Blvd (Passing), Manchester Ave & Sepulveda Blvd

DETAILS:

1. A reckless DUI pursuit that began with South LA Sheriff deputies quickly escalated into a night where multiple vehicles were left damaged and a pedestrian was struck on camera at the first crash scene Thursday night
2. Deputies initiated pursuit on a Hyundai Genesis G80, stating it was a reckless DUI driver
3. The suspect drove into Norwalk before returning to LA and getting off the 110 Fwy as a LASD Helicopter maintained visual
4. The suspects crashed in the intersection into another vehicle and jumped into a new car. No injuries were initially reported.
5. LAPD took over the pursuit as it continued near the LAX area
6. A LAPD unit was involved in a collision at one point. No injuries were reported however.
7. Everyone eventually lost the vehicle
8. Back at the original scene, a pedestrian in the roadway was struck by a vehicle amidst the chaotic scene. It was caught on dash cam. The pedestrian was assessed by paramedics but declined transport.
