Whittier: Two Arrested After High-Speed Chase Involving Stolen Vehicle

09.29.2019 | 10:30 PM | WHITTIER – Two people were taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase for over an hour, Sunday night.

Authorities attempted to stop an older white Honda Civic that was reported stolen on the southbound I-605 Freeway near Rose Hills around 10:30 PM.

The vehicle, occupied by a male driver and female passenger, fled from officers leading them on a pursuit that reached speeds of over 70 MPH.

For over an hour officers pursued the vehicle through residential neighborhoods in Whittier and La Habra and across area freeways.

The chase ended when the suspect pulled over and surrendered in Gardena near the SR-91 Freeway and Main Street around 11:30 PM.

Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
