Whittier: Senior Woman Poisoned To Death By Carbon Monoxide From Possibly Faulty Heater
12.12.2019 | 1:00 PM | WHITTIER – An older woman was poisoned to death by carbon monoxide inside her apartment, Thursday afternoon.
Authorities responded to reports of an unresponsive female inside an apartment in the Seasons at the Hoover, a multi-story senior apartment building, located in the 7000 block of Greenleaf Avenue around 1:00 PM.
Units arriving on scene located an approximately 70-year-old female on the ground inside her apartment.
Firefighters responded to the scene and determined the woman was deceased on scene and that high levels of carbon monoxide were present inside the apartment.
The poisoning was reportedly caused by a gas leak from a faulty heater inside the apartment.
No other residents were impacted and the situation was considered contained.
