Whittier: Officer Attacked By Suspect

12.18.2018 | 10:40 PM | WHITTIER – A female officer was hospitalized after being attacked by a suspect who remains at large, Tuesday night.

The solo officer stopped a man on a bicycle who she thought might have outstanding warrants near the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Comstock Avenue around 10:40 PM.

During the stop the male subject become combative and attacked the officer before fleeing the scene.

Firefighter paramedics responded to the injured officer and treated her on scene before transporting her to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers from numerous agencies responded to saturate the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect after several hours.

Authorities have identifies the suspect and are expected to follow-up at a later date.
