Whittier: Downed Trees Destroy Cars, Block Roads

01.17.2019 | 7:30 PM | WHITTIER – Several cars were destroyed after a pair of large trees fell as a result of heavy rain and winds, Thursday night.

Authorities responded to reports of trees down near the intersection of Earlham Drive and Painter Avenue as well as in the 14900 block of La Cuarta Street around 7:30 PM.

Units arriving on scene found several cars destroyed by a downed tree near Whittier College and another across the street blocking the roadway.

City crews were requested to respond and cut up the trees.

No injuries were reported but several cars were seriously damaged.
