Westminster: Woman Shot While Walking Near Local Schools
11.10.2019 | 2:23 AM | WESTMINSTER – A woman who was walking near a pair of local schools was injured after being shot in an apparent drive-by shooting, early Sunday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting with a victim down near the intersection of Edwards Street and Humboldt Avenue around 2:23 AM.
Units arriving on scene located a female victim down suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Firefighter paramedics treated the woman on scene before transporting her to an area trauma center in unknown condition.
Initial reports indicate the woman was walking with a male companion when a grey Kia Optima occupied by two hispanic males pulled aside them.
The passenger of the sedan opened fire with an unknown-type handgun before fleeing the scene southbound on Edwards from Trask Avenue.
The scene of the shooting is located in close proximity to Finley Elementary School, Johnson Middle School, and the Bethany Christian Academy.
Additional details regarding the shooting including a potential motive were not immediately available.
