West Covina: Wrong-Way Crash Kills Woman On Freeway
12.24.2018 | 2:50 AM | WEST COVINA – A woman who was reportedly driving wrong-way on a local freeway was dead after a head-on crash, Monday morning.
Authorities responded to the reported wrong-way driver headed westbound in eastbound lanes of the I-10 freeway around 2:50 AM.
While responding additional callers reported that the wrong-way driver had crashed head-on into another vehicle near the Citrus Avenue exit.
Crews arriving on scene located the crash in heavy fog conditions and discovered that a one driver was dead on arrival. The deceased driver was described as a 54-year-old woman.
Another driver, a 30-year-old male, was treated on scene and transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
Reports from the scene indicate the female driver was headed wrong-way in a 1997 Honda Civic when she crashed head-on with the male victim’s 2016 Mazda SUV.
All lanes of eastbound I-10 were closed while authorities investigated the crash.
