Water Main Break Triggers Flooding and Mudflow in Crestline

DETAILS:
- Crestline residents are notably upset after contractors working on a front yard project Severely damaged a water main causing significant flooding, mudflow and property damage to multiple homes.
- Fire fighters were dispatched to the call around 3:45 pm when they were notified that contractors had hit a water main and there was significant flooding.
- When first responders arrived they found what they describe a massive geyser of water shooting from the hill side with significant mud and debris flow rushing down the hill and impacting multiple homes down hill.
- The water company was requested and was able to successfully shut of the water.
- The break in the water main itself was over two feet long.

- The water hydro-mined blew out about 4 feet under the road and about 10 – 12 feet down into the ground.

- Two of the homes that were impacted were reportedly vacant but several other occupied homes suffered mud damage.
- One resident stated that the mud and water took out his entire back patio.
- Another resident stated 3+ feet of mud was pilled up against their home and impacted their fence.
- Residents biggest concern is that the damage to he hillside surrounding that large cedar and pine trees appeared be badly compromised and concerns of trees uprooting and landing on homes could be significant in the presence of rain and wind.
- The contracting company that hit the water main remains unidentified.
