Vista: Firefighting Efforts Hampered By Difficult Access

02.20.2019 | 11:39 PM | VISTA – A house was a total loss after a raging fire and difficult access made the perfect storm, Wednesday night.

Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 1900 block of Buena Creek Road around 11:39 PM.

Crews responding were delayed by flooding that resulted from recent torrential rains down the Buena Creek. The flooding created an “Arizona Crossing” that fire apparatus were unable to pass.

The difficult access necessitated crews to hike to the scene from their apparatus.

Once on scene firefighters worked to douse the flames amid downed power lines and a dog that attempted to run inside the house.

Despite difficulties firefighters were able to douse the fire within an hour, however the home was determined to be a total loss.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire (animals included).
