Ventura: Woolsey Fire Takes Hold, Destroys Homes
11.09.2018 | 12:05 AM | VENTURA – The devastating Woolsey Fire took hold of multiple communities in Ventura County, destroying homes and prompting evacuations, early Friday morning.
Flames rapidly converged upon the Oak Park community just after midnight. Multiple homes were fully engulfed in flames by 1:00 AM. By 2:45 AM the fire had reached the Westlake Village community, destroying more homes in it’s path.
Firefighters worked to control the blaze on all fronts, working aggressively to protect structures and salvage property. Despite their efforts, over 8,000 acres have burned thus far.
Heavy winds and dry weather conditions contributed to the fire’s rapid spread. Numerous agencies were called upon to assist in battling the fire.
So far approximately 75,000 evacuations have been ordered. The fire remains zero percent contained.
It is unclear if any injuries have resulted from the fire.
