Ventura: Ejected Driver Ran Over And Killed After Freeway Crash

12.30.2018 | 4:31 AM | VENTURA – A driver was dead after being ejected from their vehicle and then subsequently struck by other vehicles on a local freeway, Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a rollover crash on the southbound I-101 just south of State Beaches around 4:31 AM.

Units responding received additional reports of an ejected passenger who had been struck by additional vehicles on the freeway.

Officials arriving on scene located an SUV on its roof as well and person down in the roadway as well as another vehicle down a nearby embankment.

Initial reports indicate the driver of the overturned vehicle was ejected after a solo crash and then struck by several other vehicles on the freeway. One of those vehicles lost control and later careened down an embankment.

Firefighter paramedics pronounced the ejected driver deceased on scene.

Two other victims from the vehicle that crashed down the embankment were treated on scene before being transported to area hospitals in unknown condition.

Southbound lanes of the I-101 freeway were closed to traffic while officers investigated the deadly crash.
