Vehicle Flies Of Freeway into Water Killing 1
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1200am 4-3-25
LOCATION: 17600 block East Fwy
AREA/CITY: Channelview
DETAILS:
- 911 dispatch received a call for a rollover crash with 2 occupants
- The driver of the vehicle walked almost 1 mile to call 911 after crashing and then flipping his vehicle into the water
- Deputies located the male who took them to the crash, and located his passenger, who was confirmed deceased
- VCD units were requested to investigate
- Driver was traveling Westbound when he lost control, went down the embankment to the feeder, and flipped into the water off the feeder
- The vehicle landed upside down, and the driver made it out, and then pulled his passenger out of the vehicle
- Driver then walked west until he came to a gas station almost 1 mile away.
- Driver does not appear intoxicated and passed FSTs
- VCD is working to determine if road conditions, speed, or other factors contributed to the crash
