Vegetation Fire Erupts In Inaccessible Terrain – Highland, CA
11.27.2020 | 7:30 PM – At around 7:30 pm San Bernardino National Forest, CalFire San Bernardino received reports of a vegetation fire just north of Highland, above Cloverhill Drive. When they arrived they found a approximately 1 acre in light fuels and moderate winds. The fire quickly grew to 5 acres and the winds began to die down. The fire was inaccessible by ground so an air attack began, ground crews were unable to fight by ground causing an air only attack. Later ground crews were able to make it to the burn area. Winds have began to die down. There are currently 20 engines, night flying helicopter fighting the fire. The fire currently sits at around 10 acres and is in light fuels. A witness stated that a rescue by helicopter took place from the mountain that the fire was on but it could not be confirmed at this time.
