Van Nuys: Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Hit & Run Driver
07.0982020 | 8:56 PM | VAN NUYS – A 70-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, Wednesday night.
Authorities responded to reports of traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Oxnard Street and Cantaloupe Avenue in the Van Nuys area around 8:56 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a 70-year-old pedestrian down in the roadway.
Firefighter paramedics pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Initial reports indicate a gray Saturn sedan was traveling eastbound on Oxnard Street when it struck the pedestrian.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid, instead fleeing the scene with extensive damage to the vehicle’s front end.
Officers cordoned off the scene of the crash while they searched for clues that would lead them to the hit-and-run driver.
