Van Nuys: LAFD Paramedics Involved In Crash While Responding To Call

08.27.2020 | 12:00 AM | LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance was struck by another vehicle while responding to a call, early Thursday morning.

Paramedics in LAFD Rescue 839 were responding to a call when they were struck by a black Chevrolet SUV at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Van Nuys, in the Van Nuys area, around midnight.

Additional units responding to the scene discovered the rescue had minor damage but that the black Chevrolet had struck a bus stop before coming to rest against a building.

One patient appeared injured in the crash.

While on scene a group of individuals believed to be related to the driver of the black Chevrolet approached a battalion chief and acted aggressively prompting the chief to call for police assistance.

Officers responded and ensured the group remained calm and did not interfere in the investigation.

Witnesses say the rescue ambulance was traveling code 3 with its lights and siren blaring when the crash occurred.
