Van Nuys: Burglary Suspect Taken Into Custody By Police K-9
09.18.2019 | 4:30 AM | LOS ANGELES – A man who burglarized an occupied home was taken into custody by a police K-9 after an extensive search, Wednesday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a burglary from an occupied home in the 5700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in the Van Nuys area early Wednesday morning.
Units arriving on scene learned that the suspect had taken cash from the residence before fleeing on foot.
A perimeter around the scene of the crime was established while officers searched for the suspect.
With the assistance of police K-9s and a helicopter, the suspect was located and taken into custody.
Firefighter paramedics treated the man on scene before transporting him to an area hospital for minor injuries sustained when he was bit by a K-9 officer.
The victim later identified the suspect as the man who entered her home.
An investigation is ongoing and it was unclear if there were any other victims.
