Van Nuys: Brush Fire Breaks Out Near Homeless Camp

12.22.2019 | 12:11 AM | LOS ANGELES – A brush fire broke out near a homeless camp along the I-405 Freeway, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a brush fire burning along the southbound I-405 near Roscoe Boulevard in the Van Nuys area around 12:11 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a small brush fire burning along with a homeless encampment.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread deeper into the brush.

It is believed the fire originated inside the homeless encampment and spread to nearby brush.
